The Dead Robots' Society - A podcast by writers, for writers!

Dreamfall

Welcome to Amanda's Room!

February 21, 2009

OK, so it's been awhile since I've updated... a long while. Sorry about that. For those of you who weren't able to figure it out, Dreamfall is on hold until I figure out what to do with it, since I wrote myself into a lovely little corner while I was working on it. As for the rest of the site, I've got a big revamp planned. New graphics, new layout, etc. I may even route my Wordpress blog through here. I'm still alive and kicking, doing lots of different things, playing video games, writing and rocking out as always. I've got a Facebook page now, and of course you can still find me over at the Dead Robots' Society forums. That's all for now, but more will be on the way soon. Until then: sit tight and rock on!

While you're waiting, here's some proof that I really am alive. w00t for widgets.

Previous update (July 17th)
Wonders never cease! No, your eyes don't deceive you. Episode 5 of Dreamfall is live, only three days after I posted the last one! =D Consider it a special treat to make up for the terrible delay with the last episode. Anyway, I hope everyone enjoys reading this episode as much as I enjoyed writing it. For some reason, this episode was really ready to be written. It came to me easily, easier than any of the episodes before it, and I thoroughly loved every second I spent working on it. Hopefully the next episode will be the same. I'm going to start working on it today, and hopefully it'll be posted by this time next week, two weeks from now at the latest. (Fingers crossed!)

Are you ready? Get to it, then!

Previous update (July 14th)
For those of you who don't already know, I've switched Dreamfall from a weekly onto a bi-weekly schedule, giving me a little more time to write and edit these chapters, which turned out to be a bit more complicated than I'd originally thought. (It's sort of like producing a 3,000-4,000 word short story every week. Kind of a tall order for a perfectionist such as myself.) However, that doesn't mean that I'm still not late with this week's installment! :( I'm very sorry for the delay, everyone. Unfortunately this is what happens when I get excited and start trying to tackle more projects than I can handle. Eventually I'm going to get the hang of this, though, and Dreamfall will start coming out more regularly.

But enough of my complaining! Let's get on with the story, shall we? Please enjoy Episode 4. :)

Previous update (June 18th)
At long last, I return! Sorry about the long wait, folks. Unfortunately a lot of different things got in my way and as such Episode 3 is extremely late. But now it's finally finished and ready for you to read. Well, what are you waiting for? Get to it! =)

Previous update (May 23rd)
A day late but not a dollar short, I am happy to present you all with Episode Two of Dreamfall! (Holy crap. I actually did something I said I'd do. SHOCKING.) Sorry it took me a little longer than planned to post it. I had to go through several drafts to get this episode where I wanted it, and stayed up quite late in the process, but I'm glad I did. Yet more proof that first drafts are allowed to suck, and that second (and third) drafts are very, very good things. Happily I'll have plenty of time to recharge my creative batteries since I'll be going camping tomorrow and will have lots of time to rest whenever I feel like it. :) Yes, if anybody needs me, I'll be up in the Smoky Mountains wrestling bears for the next two and a half days. In the meantime, please enjoy Episode Two!

Previous update (May 14th):
I promised you guys something interesting and writing-related, and after much procrastination it has finally arrived. For better or worse, I present to you Dreamfall, a weekly episodic story set in a dark, futuristic, alternate world. This series was inspired in part by the Dead Robots' Society, my favorite podcast by writers for writers. This is my very first attempt at serialized fiction, and as such all feedback is welcome. (I need to know if this really sucks, after all. *grin*) You can reach me on Skype, (amandacales) via e-mail, (amanda @ amandacales dot com -- creative, I know) by commenting on my Dead Robots profile, stopping by the Dead Robots forums, or even by adding me on MSN messenger, (amanda_cales@hotmail.com) though I'll warn you I'm not around much.

So now that you know how to get a hold of me, I present to you Episode One of Dreamfall without further ado. Look for episode two to be released this time next week, and as always, please enjoy.
